'International Dawn Chorus Day' Ballyvaughan, Co Clare

What a really lovely experience!

Some friends and I decided to go on the 'Dawn Chorus' walk in Ballyvaughan in 2012.  I had to get up at 5:00 a.m. to be in Ballyvaughan at 6:45.  I listened to the special 'International Dawn Chorus' programme on radio on my way to Ballyvaughan.  It was fascinating to hear reports coming in from all over the world with a recording of their birds at dawn.  Our group met up at the supermarket in the village.  We were pleasantly surprised when they served us tea, coffee and hot croissants before the walk.    The group of about 50 people was lead by Gordon D'arcy.  He patiently identified every birdsong along the route which took us up by Lough Rasc.  We were blessed to have a dry sunny morning.  A well earned breakfast of scrambled eggs, smoked salmon and champagne was served at Logue's  restaurant on our return to Ballyvaughan.  Can't wait to do it again this year!
